Bill Honjas
Bill Honjas is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Terēan®, bringing decades of leadership at the intersection of geophysics, seismic risk, and advanced imaging technologies. Prior to Terēan, Bill founded and served as President of Optim Earth (acquired by Orix Capital Partners, NYSE: IX), where he led the development of pioneering software platforms, SeisOpt® and ReMi®, that have since become global standards in geotechnical analysis. Under his leadership, Optim delivered breakthrough technologies that advanced public safety, transformed large-scale seismic risk assessment, and significantly accelerated geothermal energy exploration.
Bill’s career in seismology began through a long-standing collaboration with the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, ultimately spanning public-sector, scientific, and international work. He served as Managing Scientist for on-site operations under the NRDC Nuclear Weapons Test Ban Verification Project, working in secure test and research locations across the United States and the former Soviet Union. He later became Director of the Global Seismic Network at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Institute for Geophysics and Planetary Physics, where he led global expansion of the network into the South Atlantic and Middle East. Bill also served as Director of Geophysics and Senior Geophysicist at William Lettis & Associates, where he drove the firm’s growth into international markets.
Bill currently serves on the College of Science Advisory Board and Strategic Planning Committee at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was honored as Alumnus of the Year.
